You have been forced out onto the streets to make your way out of town with your family, are you prepared? Did you think that anything unexpected could ever happen in your wildest dreams to put you in this situation? Your friend tried to talk you into putting together an emergency kit, something he called a big out bag for each of your family members and you though he was a little extreme in his thinking.
Now look where you are. If you had taken his advice you would at least been somewhat prepared and would have had some food and water and extra gear to help you for at least 3 days. This would make your situation a little more bearable. Now all you can do is carry whatever you had time to grab from your kitchen so you had something to eat. You have a few bottles of water but when those run out you could have used a water filter so you can get water from other sources.
Can you keep dry if it rains, keep warm if its cold? What about your kids, how are they going to fair on the streets? Although the bug out bags would carry you for about 3 days for food you would at least have been prepared and would be in a better state of mind from the start and could plan ahead for day 4 according to what’s currently going on.
You know the saying “fail to plan - plan to fail.”
